The series is called IPA Expedition, but its 31st entry is not an IPA. Guggman Haus Brewing Co. has slotted its third pale ale trial into the same numbered run. It is a 5.5% beer dry hopped with Citra and Simcoe.
The brewery keeps the description brief: notes of sweet citrus and orange, and the word trial. Citra and Simcoe is a long-settled pairing in American pale ale, the sort of hop bill that behaves predictably. That counts for something in a beer being tested rather than launched.
At 5.5% it is the lightest of the four beers Guggman Haus put out this week, sitting under the 6.2% coffee milk stout, the 6.7% IPA released alongside it, and the 7.8% sour rounding out the group. Four beers arrived at once, and this is the one built for a second pint.
IPA Expedition 031: Pale Ale 3 is new this week at Guggman Haus in Indianapolis.
