For the Love of Parks

A hazy IPA made in collaboration with a parks advocacy group is a modest premise for a beer, and For the Love of Parks does not try to make it a bigger deal than that.

A brewery teaming up with a parks alliance is not a complicated idea. Guggman Haus brewed this one alongside the Parks Alliance of Indianapolis, presumably to help fund or promote the city's green spaces, and the beer itself does not try to dress that premise up into something bigger than it is.

For the Love of Parks is a session hazy IPA at 5.5 percent, built on a hop blend of Simcoe, Citra, and Krush. That last one is the least common name on the list, and it is doing the work here that Simcoe and Citra usually do on their own - the combination lands on orange, general citrus, and tropical candy notes, which is a fairly standard hazy IPA profile executed with one slightly less familiar hop thrown into the mix. Nothing about the flavor description reinvents the style, and that seems to be fine with everyone involved.

It started tapping today at the Indianapolis taproom, alongside an experimental pale ale from the brewery's ongoing IPA Expedition series. Not every collaboration needs a dramatic backstory to be worth a visit. Sometimes a hazy IPA for a good cause is just that.
