Berliner Weisse isn't typically a style you'd call heavy. This one, at 8% ABV, quietly is, without losing the sourness the style is built around.
Guggman Haus brewed this batch with plum, peach, and apricot, plus a good amount of fresh vanilla beans, letting a wild yeast strain handle the natural souring. Milk sugars and oats build a creamy body underneath all that stone fruit, so what could've been a thin, one-note sour instead reads as sweet and sour in equal measure, plum notes accentuating the vanilla rather than competing with it.
Indianapolis' Guggman Haus already has a Pink Guava Papaya version of this series logged, and this stone-fruit take is a genuinely different beer, not just a repackaged one.
Available now in cans.
An 8% sour that still tastes like restraint. Not an easy needle to thread.
