Pump Up The Jam Returns With a Record Dose of Berries

The Establishment Brewing brings back Pump Up The Jam, an Imperial Sour loaded with raspberries and blackberries over a vanilla backbone, which the brewery calls a record-breaking dose of fruit.

The Establishment Brewing Company has re-released Pump Up The Jam, an Imperial Sour the brewery counts among its cult classics. This run, the brewery says, comes with a record-breaking avalanche of raspberry and blackberry.

According to The Establishment, the beer carries layers of smoothie and sorbet character, with a vanilla backbone meant to keep the tartness from taking over. The listed flavor notes - berry cheesecake, fruit gushers, vanilla wafers - lean deliberately toward dessert rather than a straight fruited sour, and at 8.0 percent ABV the beer has enough body to carry that much fruit without turning thin or one-note. Bringing a beer back as a "cult classic" rather than introducing it cold also says something: this is a recipe with a track record at the brewery, not a first attempt.

Pump Up The Jam is available now through the brewery's online shop and at its Calgary taproom.
