AK [Hollow Victory] Is Part Five, and the Series Has Its Own Merch

Adroit Theory has been telling a story about a time traveling assassin across a run of hazy IPAs, and this week it reaches Part 5. The brewery says Hollow Victory picks up where Part 4 ended, still committed to what it describes, in capital letters, as causing maximum death and destruction.
The series is more formalized than a run of similar names. The brewery's webstore carries a dedicated AK Series collection, with a separate shirt and poster for each of the five parts, so the artwork has been commissioned chapter by chapter alongside the beer.
Against that continuity, the beer itself is built to stay recognizable. Adroit Theory says Hollow Victory keeps the same pillowy, semi-sweet body as the prior iterations, with the changes happening in the hop profile rather than the base. This one goes tropical and citrus forward, and the brewery describes intense, juicy notes of mango and passionfruit with a hint of pine sitting behind them, plus a subtle spicy note. Bitterness stays minimal, which the brewery notes is standard for the line.
The hops are Citra, Galaxy and Zappa, double dry-hopped. Galaxy is the Australian variety that built its reputation on passionfruit intensity, and it accounts for most of what the brewery is promising up front. The spice comes from Zappa, a hop bred from the wild North American neomexicanus species, which brings a savory and herbal character unlike the fruit-forward varieties it is sharing a tank with. In a triple IPA, where sweetness and alcohol both run high, that kind of contrast is doing structural work rather than decoration.
AK [Hollow Victory] is available now in Purcellville in pours and cans, with four cases packaged.
