Adroit Theory Brewing Company has revived a series it last touched three years ago. REVOLT is the third release in the Purcellville brewery's twelve-part homage to GI Joe and its fictional antagonist organization COBRA, and this entry is built around the character Baroness.
The beer is a Hazy Triple IPA, a strength category the brewery leans into with a malt bill of flaked oats, flaked wheat, and spelt meant to keep the body soft despite the higher alcohol content. It is double dry-hopped with Citra and Mosaic, which the brewery says produces aromatics of fresh cut passion fruit and candied lychee, along with a hint of resinous character in the finish.
The GI Joe series is one of several long-running concept lines Adroit Theory maintains, pairing themed can art with beers tied to specific characters or story beats. A three-year gap between releases is unusual even by the brewery's own irregular release schedule for the series, though the newsletter did not give a reason for the delay.
REVOLT is available now on draft and in cans at the Purcellville taproom.
