Holy Sheets! Returns With Two Label Designs in One 4-Pack

North Park's recurring collaboration with ballplayer Gavin Sheets is back for the post-season, and this run splits the four-pack between the original label and a new City Connect version.

The baseball post-season is close enough that North Park Beer Co. has started packaging for it.

Holy Sheets! is back, the San Diego brewery's recurring collaboration with ballplayer Gavin Sheets, returning as a triple dry-hopped Hazy IPA at 7 percent ABV. The brewery notes it has teamed up with Sheets once again, making this a continuation rather than a one-off.

What separates this run from the previous ones is on the outside of the can. North Park is selling mixed four-packs that combine the traditional Holy Sheets label with a new City Connect version, a nod to the alternate-uniform program that has become a fixture of the sport. The two designs share a layout and little else. One is deep navy with a teal starburst behind the player; the other is bright yellow, the uniform pinstriped. Both carry the number 30.

Citra, three ways, plus company

The hop bill is Citra, Citra DynaBoost, Citra Cryo, Motueka, and Galaxy. Three of those five entries are Citra in one form or another, which loads a lot of a single hop's character into the beer without the vegetal weight that simply adding more plant material would bring.

The other two slots are doing the contrast work. Motueka is a New Zealand hop with a distinct lime and lemon character, and Galaxy, from Australia, is among the most reliably tropical varieties in commercial use. North Park describes the result as pulpy OJ, mango, and pineapple.

That combination is more thought through than a straight citrus stack would be. Pulpy orange juice and mango are broad, round, sweet-leaning notes, and Motueka's sharper lime edge is what keeps a beer like that from reading as flat. For anyone drinking one alongside a ballgame, it would sit comfortably with something salty and fried.

Holy Sheets! is one of four cans in this week's release. It is available for taproom pickup at North Park's three San Diego locations, with shipping offered within California.
