The can says Batch 6. North Park Beer Co. has now brewed Lupulin Collider six times, and this run comes with a 2026 World Beer Cup gold medal attached to the name.
The San Diego brewery is putting the triple dry-hopped Hazy Triple IPA back in cans on Wednesday at 10 percent ABV. What stands out on the spec sheet is how short the hop list is. Three names: Citra, Galaxy, and Nelson Sauvin. North Park describes tangy grapefruit, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and bright white grape.
Three hops, three notes
Most hazy triple IPAs at this strength reach for six or eight varieties, often the same one in several processed forms. Lupulin Collider does not. Each of the three listed tasting notes traces cleanly back to a hop on the bill, and that is unusual enough to be worth pointing out.
The white grape is the giveaway. Nelson Sauvin was named for Sauvignon Blanc, the grape its aroma was said to resemble, and it remains the hop brewers reach for when they want a beer to read as wine rather than fruit juice. Citra covers the grapefruit and orange end. Galaxy fills in the tropical middle. Nothing on the list is competing with anything else for the same space.
At 10 percent, the malt bill has to carry a lot of alcohol without turning sweet, and a tight hop selection makes that easier to steer than a crowded one. Whether it works is not something JollyPint can report firsthand, but the World Beer Cup judges gave it gold this year.
The brewery is only half-joking about supply. Its own note suggests moving quickly.
Lupulin Collider lands Wednesday at North Park's taprooms, with pre-order pickup and California shipping available through the brewery's site.
