Great Lakes Brewery

Ontario’s Fiercely Independent Brewery

30 Queen Elizabeth Blvd, Etobicoke, ON M8Z 1L8, Canada

Great Lakes Brewery is a fiercely independent operation planted firmly in Etobicoke, Toronto, and it has the audacity to treat brewing like an art rather than a hobby. Their menu swings from a tropical New England IPA that makes you feel as if you’re on holiday in the Caribbean to a crisp, cold lager that could convince even the most skeptical palate that simplicity can still be spectacular. Every pint carries a tale of resilience and collaboration, a subtle reminder that good beer is rarely a solo venture.

The taproom buzzes with rotating drafts and limited releases, each one a tiny experiment in forward‑thinking flavor (the founders, who once argued over the perfect hop schedule, decided to let the hops speak for themselves). Outside, a spacious, dog‑friendly patio offers picnic benches and quirky seating arrangements, perfect for anyone who believes sunshine and suds belong together. Friendly staff keep the service smooth, while the on‑site shop boasts merch that’s as well‑designed as the beer itself. In short, Great Lakes Brewery isn’t just a place to drink—it’s a lively celebration of Ontario’s independent spirit, served with a generous side of humour and craftsmanship.
