Noon is Good Breakfast IPA

Noon is Good Breakfast IPA has oranges in it, so Great Lakes Brewery is calling it a breakfast food. At 5.4 percent, it is a very convincing argument.

This is the kind of logic that should not hold up under scrutiny: Great Lakes Brewery says their new IPA has oranges in it, so it counts as breakfast. It should not work. It works.

Noon is Good is a juicy, zesty, citrusy IPA at 5.4% ABV, built around real oranges, and the brewery's own comparison is that it's basically a mimosa, except it's beer, which is objectively the correct upgrade. There's nothing subtle about the pitch here, and there doesn't need to be.

Great Lakes Brewery runs out of Etobicoke, on the western edge of Toronto, with a brewpub downtown at Lower Jarvis for anyone who wants the full sit-down version of the experience. A brewery confident enough to build a beer around a mimosa joke is a brewery that knows exactly who it's talking to.

Available starting Thursday at the Brewery, the GLB Brewpub, and online, $3.60 for a 473ml can or $75 a case.

Brunch is officially cancelled. This replaces it entirely.
