Award-winning brews with unique New Zealand hops

Original Pattern Brewing in Oakland, California, is an employee‑owned, award‑winning operation where imagination meets the rigour of good old‑fashioned brewing. The team (a collective of enthusiastic brew‑geeks) has a particular fondness for the exotic, importing New Zealand hops that lend their beers a crisp, citrus‑spiked character you rarely find on the West Coast. Their lineup is a revolving door of styles – from razor‑clean lagers that whisper rather than shout, to double IPAs that roar with a confidence bordering on arrogance.

The taproom is a generous space where you can order a massive beer flight and actually have room to appreciate it. Although the rotating taps tilt toward IPAs, there’s enough variety to keep a skeptical palate interested. The food scene mirrors the beer: experimental pop‑ups keep things fresh, and the daily pizza is a revelation – crusty, cheesy, and perfectly matched to a hoppy pint. Seating options range from communal tables for boisterous crews to cozy corners for quiet contemplation, ensuring everyone feels at home while they sample the ever‑changing catalogue of craft perfection.
