Corporate Ladder Brewing Company's Pokemon release leans heavily toward big dessert and hop-forward flavors, which makes Onix the outlier. It's a mild at 3.5 percent ABV, brewed with English yeast and English hops, and the Palmetto, Florida brewery describes it as dark, malty, smooth, and roasty with a solid malt backbone.
At that ABV, Onix reads as the session option in a lineup otherwise built around 6.5 to 8.5 percent releases - Pikachu, Blastoise, Venusaur, and Charizard among them - a beer meant to be had alongside a few others over the course of a trivia night rather than the main event on its own.
Onix is available tonight on draft and in 16oz crowlers at the brewery, while supplies last.
