Venusaur rounds out the dessert-beer half of Corporate Ladder Brewing Company's five-beer Pokemon release. It's a gluten-free dessert beer at 6.5 percent ABV, and the Palmetto, Florida brewery points to tangerine, key lime, graham cracker, and vanilla as the driving flavors, landing on what it calls a bright citrus pie finish.
The graham cracker and vanilla combination reads as a pie crust base, with the tangerine and key lime carrying the citrus filling on top - a more specific dessert reference than most fruited releases attempt, and one that lines up with Corporate Ladder's established habit of building these beers around an actual dish rather than a single flavor note. It shares that approach with Blastoise, its dessert-beer counterpart in the same five-beer drop, though the two land on very different desserts.
Venusaur is available tonight on draft and in 16oz crowlers at the brewery, while supplies last.
