Charizard is the strongest of the five beers in Corporate Ladder Brewing Company's Pokemon release, an 8.5 percent gluten-free sour built around strawberry, banana, and vanilla bean. The Palmetto, Florida brewery is positioning it as the lineup's closer, both in ABV and in the smoothie-style fruit profile it's chasing, capping a drop that also included Pikachu, Blastoise, Venusaur, and Onix.
Strawberry and banana together push the beer toward dessert-sour territory more than the tart, pucker-forward sours some drinkers expect from the style, with the vanilla bean rounding out the sweeter end of that profile.
Charizard is available tonight on draft and in 16oz crowlers at the brewery, while supplies last.
