Brasserie du Bas-Canada - Hautes-Plaines

Local Gatineau brewery blending award-winning craft beers with vibrant community experiences

95 Bd de la Technologie Local 114, Gatineau, QC J8Z 3G4, Canada

Brasserie du Bas‑Canada‑Hautes‑Plaines sits in Gatineau, Québec, and punches above its weight like a lightweight boxer with a PhD. After seven years of perfecting the craft, it serves a rotating roster of beers that would make even the most pretentious connoisseur blink twice – crisp lagers for the casual sipper, bold IPAs that bite back, and a DIPA/TIPA line that’s been called one of the best in North America. The same precision that lands those awards shows up in the can format, where each brew arrives as fresh as the day it left the fermenter.

The taproom isn’t just a place to gulp; it’s a community hub. A menu of clever bar bites dovetails with the brews, while a sunny patio invites you to linger until the sun sets. Regulars will point you to “Jeudi Anti‑Inflation” and “Samedi Vinyle,” events that keep the atmosphere lively without the pretension (the owners once joked they’d charge admission in hops). Sustainability is a mantra, with local ingredients and family‑friendly touches like high‑chairs, proving that good beer and good times truly belong to everyone.

Why it matters: award‑winning IPAs, standout NEIPAs, a stellar DIPA/TIPA selection, and a vibe that feels like a celebration rather than a lecture. Cheers to that.
