Imperial Centennial IPA Takes Centennial From 7.2 to 9.2 Percent

Founders has scaled up its longtime Centennial IPA into Imperial Centennial, pushing the ABV to 9.2% for a bigger dose of grapefruit and pine hop character over the same caramel malt base.

Founders Brewing Co. has taken its longstanding Centennial IPA and turned up the volume. Imperial Centennial IPA keeps the same hop backbone as the original but pushes the ABV to 9.2%, up from Centennial's 7.2%.

The brewery describes the result as bursting with even more hop aroma, with notes of grapefruit and pine following each sip, built over the caramel malt character that has defined Centennial. Founders is framing it as an enhanced take on the original rather than a wholly new recipe - the same qualities, amplified.

Imperial Centennial IPA is available now in the Founders taproom, with retail shelves to follow this September.
