Blueberry Pomegranate Frootenanny Stops at Two Fruits

Fifth Ward Brewing pairs blueberry's soft sweetness against pomegranate's bright tartness in its latest Frootenanny sour blonde ale, arriving the week before the brewery's annual Frootenanny Hootenanny festival.

Fifth Ward Brewing Company has released Blueberry Pomegranate Frootenanny, a sour blonde ale pairing blueberry and pomegranate. The brewery calls it a simple but effective combination: blueberry's soft, juicy sweetness set against pomegranate's bright tartness, with neither fruit meant to dominate the other.

At 6 percent ABV and 5 IBU, the beer is a Frooted Sour, one of a line the Oshkosh brewery keeps returning to across different fruit pairings. The same newsletter that announced Blueberry Pomegranate Frootenanny also previewed Fifth Ward's Frootenanny Hootenanny, an annual festival the following Saturday built around a dozen-plus one-day-only Frootenanny releases, live music, and food trucks. Blueberry Pomegranate Frootenanny isn't one of those festival exclusives, but its timing the week before makes clear this fruited sour lineup is a defining part of what the brewery does, not a one-off.

Blueberry Pomegranate Frootenanny is available Friday on tap and to-go in 16oz 4-packs at the Fifth Ward taproom.
