Juicy Wiggle Began as a Charity Auction's Winning Bid

Confluence Brewing brings back Juicy Wiggle, a Juicy IPA born from a Coaches vs. Cancer charity auction, returning for an encore with grapefruit, citrus, and sweet orange.

Confluence Brewing Company is bringing Juicy Wiggle back for a second run, and the beer has an origin story that sets it apart from a standard seasonal launch. The brewery says the first batch came out of a team-up with Coaches vs. Cancer, where a charity auction gave local sports fan and community supporter Jay Chapman the winning bid to direct the beer's style and label design himself. Confluence built a Juicy India Pale Ale around his choice, and according to the brewery, drinkers responded well enough that Juicy Wiggle earned a spot back in the rotation.

At 5.7 percent ABV, the beer leans on fruit character over bitterness: the brewery describes tangy grapefruit, zesty citrus, and sweet orange carrying the sip. It's a familiar juicy-IPA hop profile, but the backstory is the part worth remembering here, a beer whose entire identity traces back to one winning auction paddle rather than a brand meeting.

Confluence brews weekly, cycling new beers alongside its established favorites, and a fan-directed release finding its way back into that lineup is itself a small vote of confidence. Juicy Wiggle releases Friday, August 14, on draft and in 4-packs at the Des Moines taproom, with distribution across Iowa following on Monday, August 17.
