Munchin' Pretzels Is a Marzen Named After Its Pairing

Bent Paddle releases Munchin' Pretzels, a Marzenbier brewed with traditional German malts and hops, offering the brewery's noted balance of toasted bread, caramel, and light spicy hop character.

Bent Paddle Brewing Co. has released Munchin' Pretzels, a classic Marzenbier brewed with traditional German malts and hops. The brewery describes the beer as rich amber in color with a medium body.

According to Bent Paddle, the aroma carries notes of toasted bread, caramel, and a subtle hint of spicy hops, with the malt and hop bill balanced toward sweetness without losing bitterness entirely - a fairly traditional read on the Marzen style, which is built around exactly that malt-forward, low-bitterness balance rather than any hop-driven aroma. It comes in at 6.0 percent ABV and 18 IBUs, numbers that track with a beer meant for drinkability over intensity.

Munchin' Pretzels is available now at Bent Paddle's Duluth taproom, part of a lineup of three specialty beers - alongside a hazy IPA and a gose - the brewery released together this month.
