Some of the best stuff a brewery makes never gets a proper release, it just lives as the cask everybody asks about by name. Sookram's has apparently been sitting on one of those for a while.

Grapefruit Desert Island Fruit IPA is the first big batch of what the brewery admits has always been one of their favorite cask-only pours: a fruited version of their flagship Desert Island IPA, layered with juicy grapefruit and tropical hop notes, at 6.5% ABV. It's the kind of beer that earns its promotion the honest way, by being requested often enough that somebody finally does the math on a full batch.

You can grab it now out of Winnipeg, and if you're around this weekend, Sookram's and their neighbours at Low Life are running a joint event with a free trolley between the two patios. Bring a canned good for the food bank and your first pint's half off. Worth the trip either way.
