Fruited sours have a tendency to pick a single lane and stay in it: tart and puckering, or sweet and dessert-adjacent. Rarely both at full volume.
Pie Shop is South Lake's rotating fruited sour, named after one of their favorite local climbing spots, and this round is conditioned on heaps of raspberry purée and vanilla at 5.2% ABV. The result is bracingly tart and zippy while still carrying a bold kick of fruit and nostalgic notes of raspberry sorbet and freshly baked treats, which is a lot of ground to cover for one can. It shouldn't hang together this well. It does.
Available on tap and in 4-packs to go this week at both South Lake Brewing locations. Rotating series means this exact version won't stick around forever, so don't wait on it.
