Toasted malt, a little caramel sweetness, a crisp finish. That's the whole pitch for The Goat, and it doesn't need a longer one.
It's a Bock from Wooden Hill Brewing Company, 4.5% ABV, pint after pint the kind of beer people mean when they say "easy choice." Not flashy. Not trying to be. A Bock that just does the job a Bock is supposed to do, competently, without asking for credit.
Wooden Hill runs their taproom out of Edina, Minnesota, and pairs this one with quesabirria tacos and a savory sandwich this week, which feels like the correct amount of ambition for a beer this unpretentious.
Available now, on tap and in cans to-go.
I have nothing clever to add. Sometimes that's the review.
