Calamansi-Mango Semi-Sweet Cider

Calamansi-Mango Semi-Sweet Cider

Black Spruce compares this cider to an Orange Julius. That is a big claim to make about a canned drink from Fairbanks, Alaska. It is also, annoyingly, an accurate one.

This is the kind of comparison that should get a marketing department in trouble. Black Spruce Brewing Company says their new cider tastes like an Orange Julius. Nobody at Orange Julius asked to be involved. Doesn't matter. It's true anyway.

It's a Semi-Sweet Cider built on calamansi and mango, no added sweeteners, just pure puree carrying the whole thing on its back. 6.5% ABV, which is precisely the number that lets you call one can "a sensible amount" and mean it, right up until you're reaching for a second.

Fairbanks, Alaska is not a place that does subtlety with its seasons. Summer arrives, it's short, it's intense, and then it's gone again. A tropical, citrus-forward cider showing up in the middle of that stretch is a little bit of defiance dressed up as a drink.

Limited batch, cans to-go and on tap, starting Friday, July 17th.

Get there before it does what limited batches do.
