Platte Creek Brewing Company sits in the wide‑open prairies of Geddes, South Dakota, and it does not try to hide its ambition behind pretentious jargon. Its s’mores‑infused ale is the sort of daring experiment that makes you wonder whether the brewers have a secret stash of toasted marshmallows in the mash tun (they’ve been tweaking the recipe for years). The result is a perfectly balanced marriage of chocolate, graham‑cracker bitterness and a whisper of campfire smoke – a flavour that could persuade even the most skeptical palate.
The taproom feels more like a friendly gathering spot than a polished showroom, with a genuinely warm vibe that encourages conversation over a pint. The menu matches the beer’s creativity, offering a solid range of hearty meals and a dessert list that rivals any bakery’s best. All of this unfolds against a genuinely scenic prairie backdrop, where the horizon stretches as far as the imagination. In short, Platte Creek proves that great craftsmanship, a touch of whim‑wham and a generous portion of good humour can turn a simple brewery into a memorable experience.
Reviewers rave about the brewery's excellent beer selection, including unique offerings like the s'mores-inspired original brew. Atmosphere is described as welcoming and quaint, with great food and friendly company making it a perfect spot for relaxation and adventure.
