Salty Mac Brewing Company sits in St. Ignace, Michigan – the practical launchpad for anyone heading to Mackinac Island or the Upper Peninsula. The place is a mash‑up of old‑world Scotland and Ireland, and it wears the badge with pride. Their self‑pour tap wall boasts roughly 40 options ranging from robust ales to crisp ciders and even a handful of wines, so you can sample a whole continent without leaving your stool. When you’re done, grab a growler, crowler or bottle of wine to take the magic home.
The real curve‑ball is the adjoining coffee house, supplied by Foster Coffee. It serves espresso that could wake the dead and a chai tea that would make a Tibetan monk smile. The menu throws in Korean‑inspired dishes – think spicy kimchi‑topped sliders – and a olive pizza drizzled with balsamic that somehow feels both sophisticated and downright satisfying. For the daring, there’s a habanero‑infused cider that burns with the enthusiasm of a rookie driver (the founders, long‑time brewing mates, decided a bit of heat was overdue). In short, Salty Mac is a well‑crafted, unapologetically tasty haven where coffee and beer coexist without the usual pretension.
Salty Mac Brewing Company is praised for its great beers and ciders, particularly those with unique flavors like the habanero hint cider. The atmosphere is described as clean and welcoming, with excellent coffee and baked goods, making it a must-visit spot.
