Rolling Oak Brewing Co. occupies the old ice‑house in Grayling, Michigan, and it’s clear the place has been given a proper makeover rather than a half‑hearted facelift. The building’s salvaged light fixtures and repurposed timber give it the sort of charm that makes you forget you’re sipping a craft brew in a former freezer for ice blocks.
The lineup is anything but pretentious. GoodAle comes with a side of donuts from Goodales Bakery – a match that feels like a warm hug from a grandma who also brews. The Peanut Butter Porter is a loyal favourite, while the exclusive Holy Waters IPA proves the brewers can still surprise the seasoned palate. For families, there’s fresh root beer and complimentary popcorn, a simple comfort that feels almost out of place amid the artisanal ambition. The black‑raspberry cider steals the show whenever it’s on tap, and the cidery also features in the mixed beer‑and‑cider flights, giving you a proper tour of the house’s versatility.
Patrons can linger at tables strewn with game cards, turning a pint into a mini‑tournament. All of this is served with a generous splash of community spirit – a reminder that the best beers are those that bring people together, not just fill their stomachs.
Rolling Oak Brewing Co is praised for its friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, and extensive beer selection. The cozy space features unique touches like card tables, allowing patrons to relax and enjoy a variety of beers, ciders, and other offerings.
