Blue Skies BreweryâAuburnâŻHills bursts onto the scene in AuburnâŻHills, Michigan, with the swagger of a runwayâturnedâbrewery. The venture (the founders had a thing for old propellers) kicked off in 2008, converting a grassâstrip hangar into a place where wine, beer, cider, mead and spirits all line up like disciplined squadrons. Today three sites spread the goodwill, each flaunting a tasting room where aviation memorabilia rubs shoulders with winemaking artistry.
The lineâup is anything but flightâofâfancy pretension. Their Belgian Tripel, aged on rock candy and orange zest, lands with a bright, sweet punch, while the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout finishes nutârich and satisfyingâproof that the crew knows the difference between hype and hop. The 5,500âsquareâfoot Biergarten invites you to sip under the stars, enjoy 70sâ80s softârock, and tuck into paninis that range from classic to Cubanâinspired. Live music, private parties and classicârock tribute nights keep the atmosphere lively, and a unique keg cooler with a scaleâmodel display reminds you that the dĂ©cor is as thoughtfully engineered as the drinks themselves. All in all, itâs a celebration of craftsmanship that manages to be both grandiose and warmly approachable.
Reviewers praise Blue Skies Brewery-Auburn Hills for its excellent service, variety of beers, and decent food options, including a popular roast beef panini and tasty chips from Great Lakes. Atmosphere is welcoming, with airplane-themed decor.
