The Iowa Project Brewing Company in Spencer, Iowa, is the sort of place where traditional style beers are treated like fine art rather than a marketing gimmick. The brews here don’t rely on flashy slogans; they let flavor do the heavy lifting, delivering the kind of depth that makes a casual sipper pause and think, “Well, that’s actually good.”
The menu reads like a modest museum of ale, with enough variety to satisfy a hop‑head, a malt lover, and the occasional curious palate. The bartenders (who could probably teach a masterclass in creative pouring) aren’t content with simply serving the tap‑list; they’ll spin up unique concoctions that feel like a secret handshake between bartender and guest. The atmosphere is lively without trying too hard—TVs flicker with sports, a steady stream of pizza slides across the counter, and the staff moves with a service level that borders on telepathy.
In short, Iowa Project offers solid craftsmanship, a welcoming vibe, and enough character in each glass to prove that good beer still has a sense of humor.
Reviewers praise The Iowa Project Brewing Company for its traditional style beers with hearty flavors, exceptional atmosphere, and friendly staff. Many also appreciate the baristas' ability to create unique beer concoctions through flight tastings.
