Indian Ladder Farms is previewing Mrs. Pickle, a cucumber cider, ahead of its annual Picklepalooza festival later this month. The Altamont, New York cidery makes it with fresh New York State cucumbers and dill, and the brewery describes a cucumber aroma that carries into a light pickle finish over an otherwise crisp, fresh cider base, at 6.9 percent ABV.
The cider is getting a pre-game sampling this week at True Pickleball Club in Latham - a pairing that leans into the festival's pickle-pickleball wordplay directly - alongside open pickleball play with a beverage purchase and a new addition to the lineup: pickle-flavored doughnuts from the cidery's bakery, served next to the usual apple cider variety. Indian Ladder is also bringing along a rotating batch of its own fermented and pickled goods for tasting at the same event.
Picklepalooza itself runs August 29 and 30 from noon to 5pm, with live music, local vendors, and the wider pickle-themed lineup at the farm in Altamont.
