Devil's Club Brewing Company has announced Cloud Hop NA IPA, the brewery's first non-alcoholic release. According to Devil's Club, the beer is the result of roughly a year spent developing a non-alcoholic recipe the team felt was actually worth putting its name on - a longer runway than most breweries give a new style, and one that signals the brewery wasn't willing to release something half-finished just to check the NA box.
The stated goal was to deliver the full flavor experience of Devil's Club's regular lineup without the alcohol, which is the hard part of brewing non-alcoholic beer: alcohol carries body and mouthfeel that a recipe has to make up for elsewhere once it's removed. The brewery isn't leaning on tasting notes to make that case, though - it's marking the release with a free, all-ages party at its Juneau location, with a vinyl DJ upstairs and a live band, Sundew, playing its debut show downstairs.
Cloud Hop lands Saturday, August 22, with the release party running from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
