Banded Goose Brewing Co. has released Brown Pop, a Cream Soda Ale built to evoke the soda fountain drink rather than reference it in name only. The brewery says it used a rich malt backbone and a touch of lactose to get the full mouthfeel the style calls for, with caramel and vanilla notes it describes as lingering after each sip.
Banded Goose calls the beer its grown-up take on a childhood favorite, and pitches it as nostalgic and a little unexpected. At 5 percent ABV, it's built for repeat pours rather than a novelty one-off.
Brown Pop became available Friday, August 7, on tap and in cans at the Kingsville taproom, with fresh cans also available to go.
