Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic, and Strata is already a full hop lineup for most double IPAs. Pivotal adds the cryo-concentrated pellet version of each one on top, which is less a recipe than a statement of intent about how much aroma one beer is expected to carry.
The name is doing a bit of quiet comedy - "tariff" is not usually a word anyone wants attached to something they are about to pay for, and pairing it with "double" only compounds the joke. The beer itself is more straightforward: pale, hazy, and built around overripe pineapple, a tropical fruit bowl, and a mango lassi finish, at 7.9 percent ABV. Nothing about the flavor profile is unusual for the style, which is fine, because the style is popular for a reason and Double Tariff is not trying to reinvent it so much as execute it with a heavier hand than most.
It is available now on draft and in cans-to-go. Whatever the name is riffing on, the beer itself is uncomplicated about what it's for.
