Eloise

Utepils held out on making a Hazy IPA for years, and I fully expected the eventual result to be a checkbox beer. Eloise is not that. It's named after the wildflower garden next door, and it earns the tribute.

I was ready to be unimpressed. Every brewery eventually caves and makes a Hazy IPA, and nine times out of ten it reads like a box getting checked years too late. Utepils held out longer than most. Turns out that was the point.

Eloise is their first-ever Hazy IPA, and instead of just slapping a trendy label on a trendy style, they named it after the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary next door to their Beer Garden, and timed the release to land right around the garden namesake's 175th birthday. It's a partnership beer with the Friends of the Wildflower Garden, not a marketing bolt-on. Tropical citrus up front, then lime, grapefruit, mango, and peach settling in behind it, at 7.0% ABV.

Taproom exclusive, dropping Monday, August 3rd, while supplies last.

A Hazy IPA that actually waited for a reason to exist. Not the worst way to finally join the club.
