Murdoch

Bit hazy out, wasn't it? Mast Landing named this one after a 14-foot great white that cruises the Maine coast, and at 8.2 percent, it's got about as much presence as he does.

Bit smoky and hazy out there this week, wasn't it? Good excuse to duck into a taproom, and Mast Landing has a reason to make it worth the trip.

Murdoch is a New England Double IPA brewed in collaboration with Trillium in Canton, MA, made with Peacharine and Citra hops and bursting with ripe peach, apricot, candied orange, grapefruit, and honeydew melon at 8.2% ABV. The beer takes its name from a real 14-foot 10-inch male great white shark that cruises the coast between Maine and Massachusetts, with "Murdoch" coming from the Gaelic word for "sea warrior." From Portland to Boston, that same stretch of ocean connects both breweries, and this one's a tribute to it.

Available now at Mast Landing's Freeport and Westbrook taprooms, in pours or 4-packs, and anywhere Mast Landing beers are sold. Worth grabbing a few before this one swims off.
